Google Ads account suspended: a careful recovery checklist
Stop creating replacement accounts. Preserve the notice, secure access, identify the exact policy and connected systems, correct the root cause, document the evidence, and submit one accurate appeal through the account.

What should you do first?
Pause improvisation. Save the suspension message, identify the policy named by Google, secure the account, and map every related business, billing, domain, Merchant Center, and manager account before changing anything.
Google describes suspension as serious and says accounts are reinstated only in compelling circumstances, such as an error, after a successful appeal. No consultant can guarantee reinstatement. A useful recovery process improves accuracy and evidence. It cannot control Google's decision.
Do not open a new account to work around the suspension. Google warns that related and newly created accounts may also be suspended. Repeated reactive changes can make the record harder to understand.
Preserve the incident record
Create a dated case file before edits begin so the appeal can explain the original condition and the exact correction.
- Full suspension email and in-account notice
- Customer ID and manager account relationships
- Recent account, user, billing, ad, feed, and website changes
- Administrator and login history where available
- Domains, redirects, payment profiles, and business documents
- Screenshots and exports before and after correction
Check for compromise and unauthorized access
If account compromise is possible, secure every connected identity and device before policy work continues.
Google advises compromised advertisers to remove unknown users, change passwords, enable stronger account security, and scan devices for malicious software. Also inspect the website, tag manager, CMS, DNS, and payment access. A cleaned ad account connected to a compromised website is not a complete fix.
Trace the named policy to the full customer journey
Review ads, keywords, landing pages, redirects, forms, claims, billing, business identity, and related accounts. The violation may sit outside the ad text.
| System | What to inspect | Useful evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Google Ads | Users, changes, ads, destinations, billing | Exports and dated screenshots |
| Website | Claims, redirects, security, contact details | Clean crawl and deployment record |
| Business | Identity, registration, offer, partnerships | Accurate supporting documents |
| Payments | Cards, profiles, charge history, authorized owner | Consistent billing evidence |
How should the appeal be written?
Be specific, factual, and complete. Explain the business, the cause you found, every correction made, the evidence attached, and why the account now complies.
Do not submit a template that denies everything without analysis. Do not claim a fix that cannot be verified. If you believe the suspension is an error, explain why with documents and system facts rather than anger.
Google's interface and requirements vary by suspension type. Use the appeal path shown inside the affected account and complete advertiser or payment verification when requested.
What should happen after submission?
Record the submission, wait for the official response, preserve the account state, and answer any request accurately. Avoid repeated unfounded appeals.
If the appeal is rejected, read the reason, re-audit the unresolved systems, and only appeal again when you have new corrections or evidence. Keep stakeholders informed without inventing a review date.
How can the risk be reduced later?
Keep the business in control of the account, use named access, document changes, review policy-sensitive claims, secure connected systems, and maintain a current evidence folder.
- Company-owned account and billing profile
- Named users with least-privilege access
- Two-step verification and regular access review
- Change log for ads, website, feed, and billing
- Policy review before sensitive launches
- Incident owner and escalation record
Questions buyers ask
Direct answers for the questions that usually appear before a buying decision.
Can an agency guarantee Google Ads reinstatement?+
No. Google makes the decision. An agency can investigate, correct, document, and help prepare an accurate appeal.
Should we create a new Google Ads account?+
No. Google warns that related and new accounts may also be suspended. Resolve the affected account through the official process.
Can we still view a suspended account?+
Google says suspended accounts generally remain accessible in a limited read-only state, including certain billing, security, verification, and appeal actions.
How long will the appeal take?+
Do not rely on a guaranteed timeline. Follow the status and messages in the account and provide requested verification accurately.
